Does the GT5 have a built-in trailer brake controller?

I have a 2017 GT31L5.

Does my GT have an electronic trailer brake controller or do I need to install one?

If I need to install one, what do I use and where does it install?

Most all F-53 Ford bare chassis have brake controller wiring.
So if you check the location I show below you will know for sure.

It does not have a Brake controller for a trailer but it is prewired for one.
You should have the plug and wires attached to he left side of the steering column under the dash.
f you buy the specific plug in harness with your brake controller it will feed all the way back to the 7 pin plug at the hitch.

Here is a link to the Brake Controller and cable for the Ford F-53 . Double check please.

I also found this picture of the location of the plug.

If at all possible, use a factory made brake controller, they tend to be much more integrated into the vehicle than aftermarket versions are able to.

You might want to double-check things before you start. My buddy's 2019 GT5 had no 12 V power at the 7-pin connector. He took the connector apart, which is not easy, and found the 12 V wire was indeed present but had never been stripped and never connected to the connector pin.

Understood, but being that it is a Ford chassis there may still be a factory brake controller that is intended for it. I donít know if thatís true for sure, but if there is then that is what I was recommending.

Nope Ford doesn't have one for the F-53 chassis.
Only available is add-on Brake Controllers.
