Dometic Refrig

Have a Georgetown 330 with Dometic refrigerator. Is it normal during hot (95 F) days to see the refrigerator temperature increase during late afternoon?

If the sun is hitting the rig on same side as the fridge, yes, you might notice an increase in temperature.

I just bought a small blue battery operated fan. Initial assessment is that it is helping to keep refrigerator cooler in hot environment. Thanks for help

Lower shelf of the refrigerator. The fan moves air upward.

These absorption refrigerators have the advantage of being able to run on either electricity or gas. Their problem is when it is hot outside the refers don't stay too terribly cold inside...

How do you guys handle MILK. Sometimes I worry that the Fridge TEMP is not cool enough for MILK to be stored in there.

I can see how in Texas it could be a real problem this summer.

Smaller no refridgeration containers might be a solution. That way only a days worth of milk would be in the fridge.

It is only going to warm up in the box for a couple of hours during the hottest part of the day. My new refer handle the temps better than the old one. The old one I never saw it get above 50.

Once the really hot part of the day is over the temperature drops quickly and the box can be well under 40 by dark.

Just got off the phone with Horizon Farms regarding their Aseptic containers. The Tech Rep I spoke with had some more info.

1) The milk is good for one year from packing unrefrigerated. The SELL BY date is also the USE BY date.

2) Once opened it lasts 7 -10 days in the fridge

3) Their Aseptic containers are available only in 8 oz single use and 1/2 gallon sized containers.

4) They do not make Lactose Free in the 8 ox size (Grrr)

5) Once refrigerated unopened; they do not recommend taking it out for storage again (For USE; OK For Storage not OK). Something to do with the process of Ultra Pasteurization for longevity and might cause separation and loss of texture.

Wow, thanks. I can go without milk but my daughter has to have her chocolate milk and cereal to make our camping trips a happy event LOL..
