Likewise. It took me a year to figure that one out. <sigh>

I must have forgotten everything that the dealer did not teach me about that system.

Just curious. The other Motorhomes you said you had. Did any of those have the Kitchen on the slide?

For the Georgetown, it depends on the model as to whether and where the e-chain is used.

The 34H5 has the kitchen in the slide but does not use the e-chain. Instead the wiring and piping slide in a slot on the rear side. The sofa/dinette is the only one of the three slides we have that uses the e-chain.

The 36B5, I think, uses the e-chain on the sofa/dinette slide, which is behind the driver, and also on the bunk bed slide but not the main bed slide. Its kitchen is not in a slide.

At least some earlier Georgetown models used hydraulic slide mechanisms. Perhaps someone with an earlier model could say how their electrical is moved around.

My 31L5 has the sofa/dinette slide behind the driver and uses the E-chain immediately behind the driver.

My FR3 28DS has a kitchen stove on the slide. The e-chain is horizontal under the sink on the floor. Propane, 120v and 12v are inside the E-chain. The FR3 28DS kitchen slide is the same as the FR3 32DS.

Before I vacuumed the sawdust.

I cut a 1/4" sureply panel to reinforce the cabinet bottom.

These pictures were taken with the slide out in July 2017.

Nice work. I'm guessing the kitchen slide is the the right of that cabinet?

Where does the furnace duct go underneath?

Yes, I will attach the floorplan.

I found a picture from my PDI walk through. April 2017

The furnace is on the other side of the FR3 under the fridge. The duct goes underneath the floor from the furnace.

Very good - much stronger than the original floor. The horizontal chain is much better than down a hole.

I had a 28DS and liked the size and layout with the separate shower. I would still have it , but after four ( 4 ) R R bearings going out before 13000 miles I had enough. Both inner and outer at the same time and galled so bad that they had to be torched off- leaving us stuck on the road for many hours.

I have used my slide 3 times on this trip and no E-chain hang ups. The key retractor is working great.

So the extra tension was the key?

Fix

Yes. The less than 8oz. of pull is all it took.

I believe the fix will last for a long time. The retractor chain is stainless, so no rust and it will never be used as much as it was designed for.

Easy fix-hardest part was attaching the retractor to the rear of the box.

The only must is attaching the E-chain a link or 2 in front of the retractor when the slide is out.

I have 2017 364ts and my drag chain started popping on this last trip! We have 30,000 miles on it. I did not know where to look on the forum. But just found this!!! Thank You all so much! It just happened one time but two or 3 links popped off when we were getting ready to leave after a month in Florida. I finally found the drag chain and links and put them back together! We pulled the slide in watching it very carefully! Do you think I should have it replaced? Or just babysit it each time and be sure it goes into the hole? My wife can work the control switch snd I can watch and push links dow if they kink up again? I am thinking it just worked loose over time and I never noticed and then they all (3-4) came off at same time when the the one or two that had popped caused a binding point when they could not go into the hole? I honestly don't trust the dealer to know how to fix it properly without breaking something else! Any suggestions? Is there a video anywhere that shows how the system works on RVs? Is the drag chain supposed to be secured on on end both ends or neither? It is in storage now and I did not spend much time looking at it after I hot the links put back on correctly. We only use it a few times a year! This past 12 months was different for sure.

I'd suspect that you had a link or two pop loose and never knew it until enough popped loose and it snagged on something. I'd definitely watch it for the next several times and if all looks good I'd consider it fixed.

Ours is secured on both ends. It really cannot be allowed to flop around too much because that would put stress on the wiring inside and its connections on either end..
