Foot flush toilet problem
I had my 2022 GT7 in the shop recently with several issues, one of them being that the foot flush toilet will not hold water. The people at CW said it could not be fixed, that it had to be replaced. I think they just didn’t want to work on it. Thoughts?

A little late now but replacing seal with a good cleaning may have solved your problem. Easy job, YouTube is your friend. I would have went that route first

So... was it replaced by CW or did you decide to not have the work done?
If it was replaced... thoughts won't matter.
If not... what make/model toilet is it?
Forest River uses several different toilets and not all R/Vs are the same.

Toilet
It does matter because I did not let them replace it. It appears to be a Model No. 310 Dometic. Thanks for your help.

There are two things that will tell you it is a 310.
1. Porcelain, not plastic
2. The 310 has a bunch of holes around the rim. The 300 and 320 don't look the same inside.
I have a 310, replaced a 300 with it. Occasionally, I clean and lube the black seal in the "flap" that slides back during a flush. No issues. I've had the 310 for over 3 years now.

it's almost as cheap to buy another 310 then pay the the labor to pull apart and replace the seal .

I don’t have to pull my 310 apart to clean/change the rubber slider seal. I just pull it out of its slot, clean it, put it back. QED.

I don't pull mine apart either. It only takes me a few seconds.

I sprayed mine with 303 weatherstrip lube and it stopped leaking out all of the water.

My bowl wouldn’t hold water first thing I did…first thing I asked my husband to do was to take out that black ring thing and clean/grease with plumbers grease. That didn’t work. I bought a new seal off Amazon, greased it and hubby placed it and the water now holds.
No issues.
I will say, I attempted to remove that rubber ring and do it myself but I swear…it was a little tricky for me. Wasn’t as easy as the YouTube video was trying to make me believe. My husband got it tho.

Mine gets crudded up from time to time. Does not take much to let water seep out. A quick swish with a toilet brush with the valve open has cleaned it every time so far.
Just do not want to push it down into the tank. Not sure how easy it will push or pull out yet as I have not had to do that. I do have a spare on board for replacement time.
Near the same subject. My shower and sink get slow to drain sometimes too. So far on those it has just taken a plunger and one or two plunges to clear.

once in a while you just got to be brave and do it... do it in morning before stuff heats up
turn off water and hold the pedal down
uses a sponge or rag and clean the seal's underside (lip) where it makes contact with ball
then smear a bit of plumbers grease on the seal where you just cleaned will help it last longer

Vasoline works great!
I have that issue every year in my Jayco Pinnacle with 2 Dometic 310s at the beginning of the season. I just put on my Covid Latex gloves, and lube up the flapper with good old petroleum jelly. We winter over in Mission, TX from Nov-Mar and have no further lavatory problems.

I think you are right!
The Dometic 210 in my 2007 TT started not holding water several years ago. For a while I did the toilet brush/vasoline/plumbers grease thing every spring and that seemed to fix it but not this year.
I figured after 17 years maybe I'd have a go at replacing the seals. The 210 required dismantling the toilet, which was a bit awkward, but in watching the linked video the 310 looks like a piece of Cake.

Wow, at least your seal lasted for 15 years! Mine started leaking water and caused foul odor to come out from toilet. A year old mh. I have been using plumbers grease from time to time, but I think it's time for me to replace it. FR sent me two seals under warranty.
Oh yeah, of course yesterday while camping, the toilet valve started leaking, too. I ordered the part and replaced it just tonight. The plunger on the old part can easily be pressed, whereas the new one takes much force to press it. It's probably the weak point of the valve?

My 310 seal is five years old and we've spent 2.5 years living in this thing so it's passed a lot of stuff. We have not had a seal problem, yet.
If a new seal doesn't work you may want to consider changing your diet.

Another trick I've used is to fill the bowl with very hot (not boiling) water and let sit for awhile. As it begins to cool, work the pedal, letting out a little water at at time. It softens the seal and helps it find a set.
