Front shade not working

Hi just tried putting my frt shade down hit the switch only go down so far it will go up about 6 inches and down 6 inches?

I assume you have a motorized shade. Any chance your ignition is on? There is an interlock between the ignition condition (on or off) and the length of travel of the shade. It is set up that way to reduce chance shade would be lowered while vehicle is in motion.

It is motorized and I think the stop points for motor being off changed . There is a little button switch that you use to reset but my switch has came apart and I don’t know which wires to hook it up to none are same color.

If it's an MCD shade the learning key is not polarized. I think the key just shorts the wires together when pushed for calibrating the shade stops.

I think so also but my switch was on dash one day and I don’t see the same color wires that were broke off . There are a red and black wires that are there that are not hooked to anything and no connectors on them . It doesn’t look like they come from shade though so I’m not sure we’re to reattach the switch ?

I think the learning wires are both gray and the power wires to the shade switch are black and red and also an ignition wire yellow for MCD shades. This may be applicable.

Ok thanks it’s funny I don’t see any wires broken other than a bigger black and red no signs of the smaller gray wires from switch.

You can raise them with the key in but you cannot lower more than 6 inches if the key is in the ignition.

How far the shade can be lowered with ignition on is set by the user via the program button. It can be any lower limit desired.

If there is one it is typically on short wires and tucked up close to the left end of the shade. It looks like this. The key should already be there from the installation and the wires may not be gray.

If you have a single shade this may be applicable. Can you not get to the wires coming out the left end of the shade roller to see what wires are there and also which ones may not be terminated to either a splice or the switch?

That’s the switch I have and I don’t see any other wires coming out of left side by motor may have to take blind
down when I get home .

I've provided all I can. Only know of 2 shades used on a GT, Irvine and MCD and both use identical programming switches and wire location. The program procedure does vary somewhat between manufacturers. Good luck.
