Our 2014 351DS towing a 2009 Saturn Outlook AWD using Blue Ox tow bar and baseplate. We just upgraded to a 2016 GMC Acadia AWD but haven't towed it yet.

Very Very Scary (I am an idiot)
Almost lost the TOAD while driving down the 417 here in Orlando.
My wife and I had plans to leave home and spend a couple of nights in Cocoa Beach at Jetty Park. We were getting ready and as our usual process is for me to hook up the arms from the tow bar. This time, for whatever reason, she helped by grabbing an arm and connecting it with the proper hitch pin. I did the other arm and moved to the electrical and brakes.
I ALWAYS double check all connections EXCEPT THIS TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I drove off happy as a clam with our Sonic in tow. UNTIL driving down the 417 at 65mph and I looked at the rear view camera. I immediately saw a small black car bobbing and weaving behind the RV at crazy angles. Kind of looked like it couldn't decide whether to crash in the median or preferred smashing into the shoulder guardrail.
Uh-Oh, one of the tow bar arms was dragging on the pavement while the other remained attached. I applied very light braking which allowed the TOAD to kind of squeeze up to the back of the RV. I kept even braking to keep the TOAD from drifting back and then slamming into the RV. Eventually we slowed to a stop. I fully figured there would be some major damage to the RV and the Sonic.
Nope, just a couple of scrapes and a lost hitch pin. Turns out that my wife figured I'd install the safety clip and I plainly didn't.
That simple mistake nearly cost us big time and might have hurt innocent people in the process. I still shudder when thinking what could have happened.

My wife thinks I'm crazy to check the rear view camera often to make sure the road is ok. Thanks for sharing your story to share with her.

Not crazy at all.
Believe it or not, we didn't feel anything unusual as the Sonic went crazy behind the coach. The movement on the rear view camera was my only clue we had problems.
I learned a cheap lesson with this incident. I've been a pilot for 30 yrs and use checklists religiously because flight is inherently unforgiving of mistakes. I now have a new respect for how easy it is to get distracted while preparing our RV.

I use locking pins that make you use a key to secure the lock, this forces you to make sure the fins is locked
