Hard Water and Faucets

We've been living in the same place for 4 years and have now gone through yet another kitchen faucet. The problem is that water acculumulates around the bottom of the faucet and causes calcium deposits around the faucet. Meantime, the finish of both bathroom and kitchen surfaces get either corroded or something. They don't look new...like some of the finish has come off the "brushed" look. It functions ok but just not as pretty as the wife would like so guess what. It needs to be replaced. By the way, I've used CLR and done my best to keep these clean but not sure what I'm doing wrong. An RV tech has said that we must ensure its wiped down after each use. Beyonding wiping it down after each and every use, is there anything anyone else can recommend? At work, people use the restroom all the time and I don't see people wiping down after they are done yet I don't see same problem here.

Do I need to get a water softener or is there easier solutions in the future. We are replacing the faucets but looking for a good solutions to ensure they get better life and stay pretty (new look).

We bought a small water softner from camping world a couple of weeks ago but have only used for a few days. It's the kind that you regenerate with table salt. We have a softner for the house and she sorta says "I gotta have one for the motorhome" And we all know what that means. It seems to work fine and it will save the faucets, drains and water heater from all the buildups associated with hard water.
