Headphones added to dash radio

Has anyone added a plugin for headphones to the dash radio?
The existing speakers are bad and wondered if anyone added a plugin for headphone. Yes I know it is illegal in some states to drive with headsets on. Thanks

Not sure what kind of radio you have but standard speaker out will kill a pair of headphones real quick and most likely be to loud even on the quietest setting.

If your radio has a set of pre amp outs you could get a headphone amp from somewhere like Parts Experss in a 12v model.

No I don't think my radio has a preamp output.
All I see is the typical outputs for speakers.
I may have to see if they have such a box or device I can input from the radio and it lowers the output wattage. It was just a thought and it seems that I will just have to live with it.
Oh well
Thanks

I have a schematic if you are handy to build this simple circuit.

Headphone Adaptor for Power Amplifiers

ESP is a great audio resource.

You could also use this Art piece. Kind of expensive vs building your own.

Thanks for the schematic. Seems simple enough. I will look into it.

Dumb question, but why not just put a decent set of speakers in it? Decent Infinity or Polk Audio ones can be had for a good price. Heck even JL Audio entry level ones are not over priced.

Crutchfield.com
All you need to know is what size of speaker you need. You can try putting in you vehicle info and their site may tell you what sizes will fit. I have never been disappointed.

You can easily get into $100+ per pair before finding a decent pair, but if you are willing that is the best option and will give you and others more enjoyment in the future.

I have been in the audio business for years, don't let someone tell you what is the best speaker, you need to listen to them yourself and decide.
Your ears hear differently and your brain interprets differently than enyone elses.

There are plenty of good speakers out there.
