HELP! Seat belt bolts won’t come out

Hey guys

I’m pulling up the carpet in my Georgetown 350 so we can lay new vinyl plank flooring. Ive removed the couch and banquette and want to remove the seat belts as well. Two of them came out no problem but the others just keep spinning and spinning but never progress past the initial loosening.

Am I missing something here?

So, looking at the ones that DID come out......are they large screws or bolts?

A proper seat belt anchor must be a nut and bolt design. You’ve mentioned two of the seat belts came out, but not what type.

Not sure what happened when you released the first ones, but that tells me that you need to access the nuts to release, AND when you re-secure the seat belts after your flooring project.

I know it may not be easy, but nut and bolt assemblies need you to be able to secure them against each other to tighten properly.

Oh wow really. I assumed the nut part was welded in place to the undercarriage or framing. Ok I will climb under the slide today and investigate

Thanks!

It IS possible they were welded in place.....it probably even makes sense, but if the remaining ones aren’t coming out, that means the weld has broken, and you’re just spinning the bolts, and that’s why they’re not coming out.

I know there are 2 RV dealers just up the road from where you live, but they’re primarily trailer dealers and wouldn’t know the “behind-the-scenes” tricks of motorhome units. As we know......there’s no seat belts in trailers.

The seats, etc. that ate bolted in, I found large washers and lock nuts on the under side in either the roof of a compartment or just behind the compartment. Hope this helps.

SOLVED:

The seat belts from the banquette have nuts that are welded to the frame of the slide. The couch belts have nuts underneath which I was able to get a pair of vice grips on.

Thanks for the help everyone!
