I need help with electrical management

Hello, I’m looking as to why my 2022 Georgetown won’t run on the inverter, also the ACs won’t run unless the generator is running. We are in Cali and the generator is having quite the hissy fit.

Welcome to the forum. We need a lot more information to do a good job helping you. Did these items work previously? How many and what size/type batteries do you have? Does the inverter operate anything? What is the generator doing? Does it run? Do you have a manual/auto transfer switch?

Well there is so much. To begin with we have an auto transfer switch. The electrical does not work in the coach unless it’s either plugged into power or the generator is running. The generator has been OK for most of our trip but now it is starting to bog down and shut down, then restart again. The ACs don’t run at all, unless the generators running, but now even with the AC off, nothing in the coach is working. So right now we are driving with the generator off. There is no electrical to the chairs to the outlets, TV, microwave or fridge. If we start the generator, it does not sound like it is happy to be here. It bogs down quite often

What EXACT model of Georgetown do you have? Different models are wired different ways.

Please also provide examples of what that means.

The A/C's only run off of shore power or the generator. Are you saying they do not run off shore power?

Hmmm, Urban Dictionary does not seem to have anything about a generator.

Got any details?

When we first started our trip a week ago, Sunday everything worked except the TV would short circuit the coach. If we were watching TV all of a sudden everything would turn off. Like when you hit really hard and your tv cord becomes unplugged. I’m sure I’m not making a ton of sense and I’m so sorry. I’m not good at this.

Check the gfci in the bathroom on the electrical plugin. If it is popped you got no outlet power. Push it back in until it clicks and you’re good to go.
The ac problem would first have me looking at every breaker for a tripped one and then also go to where your batteries are to make sure those jack knife type breakers are not tripped also.

Hope it helps.

so we had the AC on with the generator. But at any given moment, the power will go out in the coach. That includes the ACs and the chairs to be specific. But the generator will still be running. This has been going on for several days, now the generator is really chugging along.

We have a 2022 Georgetown F-53

Would act up every once in a while and if you go to your stairs and turn your battery switch off count to 3 and turn it back on helps fix a ton of intermittent electrical problems. If this works for you then you might consider getting new batteries my GT 7 is a 2022 and I had to replace my batteries already because some Rv electric stuff is rather sensitive to power drops. I replaced the batteries and no electrical issues.

It sounds like you have a huge power drain. Start with one thing at a time. start your gen with no load. turn on the A/C, if the gen is OK with that add lights. still ok, add the TV. Depending on the size of the gen you may not be able to add the microwave with the a/c's on. How many a/c's are you running? If multiples you may have to only run one with the microwave on. you also may have the hot water on electric only. switching to gas takes a large load off the gen.
Good Luck DR

"Georgetown won’t run" is ambiguous wording to us old timers.
"run on the inverter" is also odd to us. Do you mean the CONverter?

Do you expect your A/C units to run without 120vAC power (shore power / generator)?

F-53 is the designation for the Ford chassis only.

You have either a GT3, a GT5, or a GT7.

Within each of those product lines there is another descriptor, such as our 34H5.

That is usually on a sticker to the left of the entry door outside.

What about the inverter?

So you have two different problems:
  1. The generator won't keep running.
  2. The inverter won't provide power.
You've said nothing more about the inverter. It's likely to have a circuit breaker on the output. Have you checked that?

It may also have a fuse or circuit breaker on the input, probably placed near the batteries. Have you checked that?

Checked and double checked. That’s what’s weird they aren’t connected but they all stop working together
