Sorry on the late response...

They have completely exited the RV insurance market. So... Everything, sucks too since I really liked the policy we had with them. Not happy with having to hunt down a new service

Just went through this whole insurance process since my previous insurance carrier (Erie) was pretty much a "one size fits all" in motor homes, the way I saw it. No consideration for the "layup mode" as Mickeystamper called it. Good Sam gave me a quote which was decent, but the MH needed to be in storage 30 days or more at a time to get a discount. The insurance carrier I went with asked if I used my MH more than 30 days a year - which I don't. Got a heck of a rate. Now, instead of the combined auto/RV yearly premium of over $2100 with Erie, my yearly will be about $1210 -over $900 in savings.

But, I also agree with BandJCarm's warning - not everyone will have the same result. Many variables.

I've heard unsubstantiated claims about National Interstate getting out of the RV insurance business also.

Insurance

DW and I bought a new 329DS last year and did a lot of reading, I ended up going with State Farm which I have for everything. Cost $67 a month zero deductible with road side which I had to use. To pull me out of the yard, called the number within 45 minutes wrecker was there no questions asked. With zero deductible for glass, This is insured in Ohio, states are different. My biggest concern was getting a flat and bringing me a tire. I asked this question numerous times and sat with may agent. I read the small print which was grey. But they kept saying they would bring me a tire at my cost.

Just received my renewal from Allied they went from $442 to $562. So I am in the market for new insurance. Called National General and they gave me a quote of $395 but, that didn't include Roadside Assistance. The guy said I could get RA from Good Sam's but, I have heard horror stories about the long wait times with Good Sams. Is there any other RA plans for RV's that are reasonable and dependable that won't break the bank?

Consider splitting the services. Get your insurance and then consider Coach-Net for your roadside assistance

I have been paying $1150 for State Farm. Just checked Good Sam and it was $850 for same coverage. Checked USAA which sent me to Progressive and it came in $550. Quite a spread. Signing up with USAA/Progressive this time.

I have been with Progressive for yrs but their rates have gone off the charts.
I'm looking at Good Sam @ Borden RV ins.
Good Sam has a slightly better rate but the person I spoke with seemed like just a pushy salesman.
Borden folks were nice and helpful.
For those of you that have either of these I'd just like some feedback before I pull the trigger.
Have Good Sam & Borden rates escalated every year even without a claim?
How were they if you had a claim?
I have a 08 359 XL.

Thanks.
I did a lot of searching when I got mine. I found AAA had the best rate. When I got the policy it was Progressive with the AAA discount. I had a claim Easter of last year with a bad hail storm. They were FANTASTIC!
The also helped me keep the vendors in check when I was having issues with them.

A lot here. I found that the secret to Progressive is having a GREAT agent that knows their system. Renewals are OK, but the inside information is to have your agent cnx your existing policy and write a new one. Premiums have dropped in half many times on both Boats and RVs. USAA has been great for cars and homes, but have been twice the price on Boats. I'll have to revisit them for the RV, but I am not sure I will save.

2018 Update on Good Sams RV Insurance who is really National General Insurance

(2018)
Received my 2018 Policy renewal for my 2nd Year
I had NO Claims or Changes or Accidents in 2017
They increased the yearly premium 35%.
From $557 in 2017 to $756 for 2018
The customer service reason is that it was its yearly company correction.
So did everyone that had a auto policy in the US get a 35% increase also?

Good Sam's Insurance is actually National General Insurance.
I have a 38ft motorhome and it was costing me over $1,100 a year with $500 deductible full coverage $15k/$40k/$15k

Now I get $500 deductible Full coverage $50k/$100k/$50 with full glass replacement for $557 a year

Iggy - we don't renew for several more months with National General. I hope my rates don't jump like yours did. Will keep this thread posted.

Mine increased a bit about 5%, but I haven't hit my year yet and I've had it in storage for the last couple of months.
I'm taking it out next week so l'll be putting full coverage back on. I'll keep you posted if it shoots up.
If it does I'll be searching again.

After checking several sources, I just signed up with little known (no advertising) Erie Insurance which only sells in 12 eastern states.

I mostly saved money on trailer and home policies, but I also changed my auto policy also.

Surprised that Erie was less expensive than others. When I bought my first rig I had Erie for auto and home, always rated in the top five for claims and service, but my agent told me Progressive was less expensive and took me there. Last year I was ready to switch to Safeco, (owned by Liberty Mutual) as they seemed to be hundreds less than Progressive until I looked at what they each had my rig valued at, $30K difference, so I called Progressive and dropped the value to Safeco's figure, which is still slightly higher than N.A.D.A high value and Progressive's price dropped $75 or so under the Safeco rate. Every time I've checked Good Sam, 2-3 times, they were always higher than the currant rate I was paying. Don't forget too that your credit rating has a huge effect on the rate you are quoted

We just renewed our National General policy for our 2017 Georgetown 369 and the premium increased 3.3% from last year. We will stay with them for another year.
