I repaired mine after bolt shear I removed the broken bolt ,had to grind the weld away and replaced it with a # 8 bolt . a sleeve washer and a locking nut on the top . I feel the reason they fail is because they tack weld the bolt ,I was taught welding on a hardened bolt quick turns it in to soft steel bolt . the repair has cycle several hundred time with no sign of fatigue

Thank you, I already replaced with a high qualty US made bolt. I used red Permatex with a locking bolt and so far do good. I bought an extra bolt in case. Tks again....jerry

I am suggesting everyone to file a complaint so the government can keep track of what is going on
I am not looking for anything personally
I personally feel FR has done a wonderful job at customer service.

I had this problem of the bolt shearing but was not hurt in a major way when the step gave way on my weight. I replaced with another LCI OEM bolt using red loctite but this winter, the bolt worked itself loose and the step gave away again. Thankfully this time not with me on it. I was able to re-tighten but bought two more bolts.

Mine broke loose in Washington DC. FR did me right. They paid for a campsite RV fix as well as swapped mine out after the trip.

I had to buy my replacement Kwikee Steps from Forest River for $357 plus $40 for shipping last summer. Seeing that the 3 step Kwikee's cost anywhere from $700 to $1000 I thought that was fair of FR. What is disturbing though is the junk made by Lippert, whether it's steps, hydraulic jacks, or RV furniture. It is sad that they bought Kwikee out last year because they can't engineer better products themselves. Why has FR used their inferior products over so many product years when Lippert has had these reoccurring problems for so long. Perhaps this is why the dealer where I bought my rig from is switching over to Jayco's Precept line of gas glass A's and Newmar.

Depending on time left on your warranty, Forest River should replace with the Quickee steps. I called FR up and they sent Quickee steps to dealer. One thing with the new Quickee, the wiring is different. A new magnetic switch on door will have to be replaced. LCI steps are junk.
