Looking for the fan resistor

I have an ol 1999 Georgetown on the F53 chassis. The fan only works on high so I know it's the resistor but I can't find anywhere. I've searched for a schematic for the coach with no luck it seems to be to old.

welcome to the forum its a great place to get your questions answered. You may have to go to the chassis manual to find a schematic coach schematics are usually nonexistent.

On Ford products the fan resistor is almost always mounted in the plenum right after the fan/blower. All that's visible is a multi-wire connector and a couple screws that hold it in place.

I used to drive Ford company vehicles and for some reason their fan resistors are a frequent replacement item. On my personal vehicles (non-Ford) I don't recall ever having to replace one.

And on my 2012 GT it is inside the MH on the copilot side. However; a recent issue on a 2004 GT revealed that finding the resistor was quite a task and it was mounted in the engine compartment under the hood, hidden and not where expected.

I learned early on to look for the blower and when I found that I then traced the plenum until I found the resistor. I knew it had to be close as the resistor needed cooling air. My Van's and Trucks had it under the hood and my sedans had it above the passenger foot area. Sometimes behind the glove box.

X2 what Titan Mike said. It's close to the blower motor.

Looks like it's on the outside of the firewall. I chased the wires from the dash and the fan motor and goes through the firewall to the front. I'll start cutting away at the foam and see what I find.

I had a 2000 and it was located under a panel on the bottom of the blower housing, couldn't really see it without a mirror, mostly felt for it.
