More internal storage

For those with a Georgetown, I have a GT3 and want to share with you an addition to the internal storage space. Rails cost 500 40 inch heavy duty the draws and materials $130. As there are only the two of us I removed the seatbelts.

I’m going to do something with that space too. We are using it but it is an annoyance to remove the seat cushions. Nonetheless thinking of cutting the covers (including sanding where Georgetown did a shoddy job) and maybe hinging.

Another option would be to make 24 inch drawers and still remove cushions to access rear half for less frequently accessed stuff.

I'm going to order some from these folks soon since I'm not that handy: https://www.shelvesthatslide.com/mm5...ct_Code=AM47SS

They will build the shelves to your width in 1/8" increments. If you select Blum full ext. (*extra depths) + $20.00 you can get a depth of 35 3/4". I'd like the full depth but honestly this will be good enough for us.

i'm going to try the Base Mount 4 L Brackets and secure a piece of 1/2" plywood to the 1x1 wood already there and then screw the shelves to the plywood.

I'm going with the taller shelf sides to help keep stuff from falling out as we're driving and getting underneath some place where ti should not be.

I will be keeping the seat belts so the rear drawer will need to be quite a bit narrower but we'll just adjust what goes where.

It should be about $75 per shelf.

FWIW,

Ray

At $230 a pair they are pricey, but they do make a nice installation.

I am cheaper, I plan to install shorter drawers to get easy access to some stuff, and leave less used stuff under the seat. I have already sanded the cover and installed the hinge on one side only.

A cheap temporary solution we use is a plastic wheeled under-bed storage box under each cushion. One holds extra pots & pans, the other our computers. A pain to pull Velcro end caps off to roll out drawers, but decent $25 interim storage. Think I will look into building those drawers. 2018 369XL/DS.

That's my plan as well. I've already sanded the covers. Did you stain yours? Also, what hinge did you use? Any pictures you would care to share?

Cheers,
Wayne

Nice work. But for $630 I'll just open my dinette seats.
