New Converter

Hello to all,
Quick and possibly dumb question..I just replaced my converter that was bad (Parallax 7400-65 amp) with a new Progrssive Dynamics PD 9200-70 amp. After all said and done I checked the voltage on the batteries (while shore power was plugged in) and had 12.4v, I then turned my battery disconnect switch on and had 13.4v. So my question is, do I need my battery disconnect switch to be turned on for my batteries to charge? I thought they would charge either way??
Thanks,

Battery disconnect needs to be on to charge batteries how else would they charge?

BTW great choice in converters!

I hope the reason you replaced the old parralax was because it actually did not work ?

Yes. The Parallax was in fact bad, I just never paid any attention if the disconnect switch was on/off...It does make sense, I just thought it did it automatically.

Thanks,
