New Georgetown Owner Checking In
Hi All,
Recently purchased a new 2016 Georgetown XL 369DS. Bought it from Mid State RV in Macon, Georgia. Nice folks there, easy to deal with.
Have a small punch list of items that they will be working on.....
* small areas of over-spray on the exterior
* over-spray on the aluminum wheels
* few pieces of interior wood trim tape loose
* Slide trim rubbing off exterior sidewall paint
And one larger item of concern but FR has stated they will correct the issue..
* wrinkles in the roof on drivers side at front and rear where the roof material joins the sidewall material. Anyone else have this problem?
On the good side.....
* wow! the big windshield is like watching IMAX driving down the road!
* Not much wind noise. It rides smooth, similar to the air ride of a DP.
* No problem running 70mph on the highway and not much movement from passing tractor trailers. I did the CHF both front and rear but it really did not need it.
* Figured out how to make the GPS Nav work (through apps)
* Theater surround system works great
* Outside TV has plenty of volume also with its 4 speaker sound
* Residential fridge is big and has water/ice dispenser (nice when driving)
* Having 2 bathrooms is really nice, except for having 2 black tanks!
* Plenty of Storage
We did a few small upgrades like adding wall treatments, vases, and faux tile backsplashes in the bathrooms and Blue Ray DVD Player for the Bedroom TV.
Will be adding the 5 Star tuning soon (had it on my ACE and it performed great). This is a heavy coach for a gasser and you can feel it on the mountains, not sure what can be done about that, just have to live with it for the few times we drive mountainous roads. Has anyone had experience towing with one of these newer coaches? Car trailer? Motorcycle Trailer?
Here are a few pics......

Very nice Georgetown. Did you get the Ford chassis with the 5 speed or 6 speed transmission?
Good luck and enjoy it.
I have also attached the Ford document on your F-53 chassis

Sweet. What effect did the 5star device do on your last coach?

I recently purchased a 2015 351DS. My roof has the same issues. Good to hear you found your early and FR is handling, I'm still in limbo. I'm not very tech savvy so can't figure out how to post a pic from my phone but search roof warranty and you'll see roof pics with what seems similar to what your describing. Keep us posted on how they handle the fix. Post some pics.
Welcome to the form & happy camping.

Mr Grmpy
My 2012 has had the same issues when new. It was noted at Forest River but I have not had any issues with leaks or cracking. I actually believe the roof smoothed out a but since new.
The last picture looks like they spray painted the caulking which is now pealing.
That should be an easy fix by dealer to caulk and minor repaint that small amount.
Did you get bottles of touch-up paint with your rig? I did.

After riding our bikes from Alaska to Nebraska last summer, we purchased our 2014 GT 378. This is a photo of us heading back home to Alaska. We didn't feel the trailer at all, the performance was better then what I expected.

Thanks for the replies.
As to the roof issue, they told me they will install some type of metal roof cap..I imagine it will be some type of curved metal panel that will roll upwards from the top of the sidewall. My wrinkles look exactly the same as the other fellow posted. I will keep everyone up on the progress of the repair.
The 5 star tune made a BIG difference on my ACE. The ACE is much lighter with the same powertrain as the XL so of course it had better overall performance. I have a 5 speed chassis, I think the six speeds are just now hitting the dealer lots. Will be interesting to see how well they perform.
We have an enclosed motorcycle trailer that we pulled behind the ACE across American and back. We want to take a car next time and I would like to try to pull an aluminum enclosed trailer with a car inside. Trailer is about 2600 pounds and car is 3100 pounds...so just over the rated rate for the chassis. Didn't know if anyone has tried that yet with a F53 Chassis.
Thanks again for your replies!

Actually looking at the Chassis Manual posted earlier (Thanks!!!) it appears that the chassis is rated for up to 6000 pounds of trailer. Will just have to give it a test run and see how it feels. We live in the North Georgia mountains and there is some significant terrain in the area that we can asses the pulling capabilities.
Thanks again!

We 4down tow a Honda Element using the Falcone II and Invisibrake. I have experimented with the tow haul button and found a gear at 60mph with tow haul on that pulls most hills with little effort. I also use it to slow down instead of using the brakes on steep downgrades.

Nice coach. Happy Motoring!! Once you get all the bugs repaired you will enjoy it. Always double check the work done at the dealer. Forest River has always been good with repairs for me.

Congratulations on the new coach. We love ours. I am having my roof fixed next spring in Goshen. I'm not sure what their plans are for the fix. I will keep everyone posted on that.
