Quick checkÖ..when you place the vehicle in reverse, have you verified with a digital meter that there is 12 volts at the socket?

Most probity is two burned out light bulbs. Back up lights are easy to miss when one goes out and then the other bulb gives out. If a cleaning and bulb replacement does not work I would then check to make sure that I have 12Vdc to the bulb when the back up lights should be on.
