Peeling Upholstery

I have a 2013 GT Forest River GT with only 4,000 miles on it with all the seats just peeling... The RV is like new with this Shameful looking upholstery, what has the manufacturer done about this obvious flaw in the material used... Can someone please advise me on what has been done about this, surely I am not the only one that had this happened to, & has there been any class action lawsuits on this matter?

Hopefully the Manufacturer Will Stand Behind There Product...

From my research, warranty is over. They have no obligation to repair issue. Wouldn’t hurt to contact them and ask though.

This is an industry wide problem. Do a forum search on peeling upholstery.

I don’t know for certain, but my guess is you will be reupholstering your seats at your own expense. You can contact the Forest River motorized division and see what they say. Contact info is on the FR website

if you do re-upholster ask the guy to use marine grade vinyl or real leather!

try and keep the new ones shaded and use good quality cleaners and conditioners for the type of material you have.

I also keep my air conditioner running set at 85 to keep heat out of the RV while stored!

Unfortunately, you have the choice of reupholstery or replacement. It's a known problem because of the materials they use. We had our replaced last year because the material turned to dust.

You're 9 years out of warranty, if you bought it new.
I know of no RV furniture manufacturer that offers a 10 year warranty on their products.

I contacted the manufacturer and they sold me fabric that is a direct replacement. I just stripped the old fabric off and stapled the new on. All pre-made to fit. I spent one weekend doing it part time.
Under 500 to do it.

Welcome to the crowd. Been happening since 2006 as I recall, and lots of threads on every RV forum I've visited. No cure except replacement or reupholstering. We changed over to microfiber fabric.

Even with replacement furniture the problem still exists.

Upgraded our couch to RecPro recliners three years ago. Not much use and treated when cleaning.

Leather is now peeling on the backs and they offered to replace them for a fee.

If we do again it will be fabric and not leather.

His is on our list of things to do. Right now our 2012 is t peeling. I know we are on sorrowed time. When the time comes we will have them recovered with real leather and suede inserts for a nice 2 tone look.

We have a 2012 and had the same issue. We replaced it with a hide-a-bed. When we removed the original we found that it wasn't even a traditional sofa, it looked to be handmade with fabric loosely stapled on particle board. Certainly not what I expected. This cheap pleather has been around for quite some time and gets lots of complaints.

I have a 2017…. We already nixed the trifold and I am building a new “couch” 15 minutes at a time. I will try and add a couple of pics tomorrow.

Local upholstery shop will redo them for $650 each. What do you all think?

Our Pursuit we just bought came with complete replacement covers, front seats, and Dinette, to be installed. I guess the previous owner got a set before the warranty went out. They are all still in the packaging.

Probably a good deal if it includes the fabric. Upholstery is a very time-consuming job.

I just replaced my sofa and barrel chair with a new one from Thomas Payne. (3rd replacement) They do not use the bonded leather that come stock in the Georgetowns over the past few years. We will see how this holds up.

We recently replaced our two-seat "couch" or love seat in our Georgetown with a three-seat, two recliner micro-fiber covered couch. It's very comfortable and durable polyester, but has a feel of leather.

2016 Sunseeker3010 DS and mine is starting to look like a snake shedding skin. Always stored onto of the elements and well cared for. Shameful.
