Smile Precision Plex LCD control panel not working

A long post but I wanted to share something with everyone re the LCD control panel mounted inside. My screen went black. My phone app worked fine and I was able to control everything through the plex system app wirelessly but could not get the hard wired LCD screen to come back on. When I searched this forum and others, I found some things that have helped others with the same problem. One was take the panel out and pull the phone like plug out and then plug it back in after 10 mins to reboot the screen. Another solution provided instructions on how to reset the screen through the manual panel in the closet. Another was to remove all power to the couch, reset the circuit breaker in the battery bay, wait 10 mins and then it should reboot. These solutions worked for some but I tried all of them without result. I called the Precision Plex support line this morning and he had me pull the LCD panel, unplug the communication line and remove the small CR1025 battery from the back of the LCD screen in the lower right hand corner and plug the comm cable back in. The LCD screen immediately rebooted and came to life. Turns out that if that little battery, which stores some settings like AGS time info is completely dead, it will prevent the screen from booting and coming to life. I was told to keep the battery out and replace when I can and that the screen will be operational without it but will not store settings when the batt disconnect or shore power is off. I did not see this solution anywhere in my on line searches. I hope this will help others with this problem... Props to the support team at Precision Plex for their help!!

Agreed, that company's support is fantastic.

I never noticed a battery on the back of mine so that's hopefully another piece of information I'll never need.

Did they tell you how to set your particular motorhome model, in case that's one of the settings that gets lost? If that's not set correctly you won't have the icons you're supposed to.

Thanks for posting that,

Ray

Hi Ray,
Did not need to reset that and your older post about the LCD screen was the one I mentioned re using the manual panel in the closet and how to do that was in that post as well. You had some great tips in there like all of your other posts....
