You don't mention the year your rig is.
My arms are adjustable in mine.
If you lift up on them then puch down the should a least be horizonatl to the floor.
Picture would be helpful to show us what you mean.
Unless you are very small or very large person will matter on the armrests.
I'm 5'10" and works fine for me.
