Santizing the fresh water tank

How do you sanitize the fresh water tank? We've had our RV over a year and the water has never been drained. I don't know how to get a bleach solution into the tank. To my knowledge, I only have an input to a hose connection.

Any help???

To get the bleach into the tank, simply pour it into the end of the hose, attach the hose to the faucet, put the other end into the filler opening, and turn on the water. Once the tank is full, turn off the water, then run each faucet in the trailer until you smell chlorine coming out. After doing this, fill the tank back up. Wait at least 2 hours before running the water out of the tank. Then refill and run fresh water through to rinse the lines and tank. It may take two or more times to get the chlorine out.

I also drive around a bit after filling my tank to get the bleach sloshed around a bit in case of an air pocket in the top of the tank, and also drive a mile or 2 during the fresh water flush.

Just a thought, but I suspect you should also preset your fresh water tank fill valve(s) to fill before trying the pouring the bleach into the hose trick.

Hi Richard,
I don't recall seeing a "preset" for my fresh water tank fill valve(s) - trailers may be different from motorhomes - I hope this is something I haven't missed this in the past.
Any Georgetown owners have the "preset" or "reset?"
