Shades for door window

Camping World has a replacement door window with built in shades on sale. I ordered one for our 378TS, I sure hope it fits!! We have always disliked that see thru window at night.

Under the Modification section there's a long discussion about the Slim Shade.
Almost all of us that have installed them love em.

Thx for the reply. I sure hop it will work on mine, it has the flush mount glass all around, including the door. I’m hoping it’s still the standard size! I’ll keep you posted. I’ve also got a chair to replace my euro chair that has the mange and a 5 Star Tuner to install, hopefully next weekend. We’re excited!!

Has anyone installed one of these in a Georgetown XL. I have a 2015 XL 377TS and the glass is larger then the 12 x21 that they say is the size needed. Also mine has the frameless window on the outside of the door. Don’t want to buy it unless I can confirm it will fit.

We ordered ours from Amazon. I was worried because the door on our 2304KS is narrower than our previous trailer. but they gave the dimension of the glass (outside of door, inside of fraim) as 12"X21" and it fit perfectly. So I assume that must be the standard size? It was super easy to install. Took all of 20 minutes, with the longest part of the operation being cleaning off the residue from the old fraim.

I do not like the idea you have to almost go out doors to change the shad !!!
It would be sweet with a sliding screen door !!!

Smile We've kept is simple

3 years ago when we picked up our 270s, we noticed this same issue - no covering for the door window.
2 blocks from the RV dealer was a Walmart. We purchased a spring loaded tension curtain rod for $1.50 and a set of 'cafe' curtains for $7.00.
That was over 12K miles ago, the curtain is still in use, adds a bit of color to the interior of the RV and is easy to operate.
No need to buy an expensive window replacement, nor is there the oft chance of a mechanical failure of the internal shade.
So, we've kept it simple and less expensive!

I’ll let you know shortly after I receive mine as I have the same setup. Hopefully it will be here in time for me to install it this weekend.

Received my SlimShade today and installed it tonight. My Georgetown has a flush mount window on the door and it couldn’t have been an easier install. Put my wife on a ladder on the outside side of the door while I stood on the steps and removed the screws and inside trim. Pushed the window out for her to catch, assembled the SlimShade and screwed it into place. Very easy install and worth every penny.

I picked up an inexpensive hand towel that covered our door window with a color that went well in the RV. I attached some Velcro to it with a couple of stitches and attached Velcro at the corners of the windows. It has been attached for a couple of years now. I will take it down periodically and wash it and the Velcro is still holding up well. Works great and a cheap fix.

Door shade...

The slim shade is a well done device, but I wouldn't want a solution that you have to open the door to adjust because the screen door is in the way. Many motorhomes come with roll-up shades mounted above the door that pull down easily with the door(s) securely closed. My previous motor home had one and I was surprised the '16 270 I bought this year didn't. I easily installed one and am satisfied with it. Of course your method may vary.

The roll up shades can have their issues over time too. Ours is noisy while driving and requires nearly constant tightening of the spring to work correctly.

I changed the door glass to a dark tinted one I had cut and tempered at a glass company so we could see out. I also installed a mini blind above the door that can be let down and closed at night for privacy and it keeps the bright sunshine out in the morning. Three years now with that setup and still working well for us.

How much light does these shades let in? I am thinking of getting one. I have a bunk house and there is a bike door next to the bottom bunk. It wakes the little one up very early due to sun light coming in.
