Thumbs down Slide Separation

My main slide on my three year old coach with less than 10,000 miles on it is separating at the bottom. Called Forrest River to try to have them cover it was futile. You would think being a structural defect like that they would extend warranty and cover the cost of repairing this. Very disappointed!

When you say separating do you mean the wafer board is showing and the black coating rubbing off? If so this is a common issue and forest river does have metal plates that can be installed to correct this problem. I installed them on my 2013 378 and can post pictures if this is what you mean by separating. This is how mine looked before repairing. Click image for larger version

Do you have the FR part number for the metal plates. This is happening to mine as well, but my dealer does not have a fix.

Im sorry but they did not supply any part numbers they just sent the plates directly to me. They sent me pictures of the plates before sending the plates and I will attempt to attach those photo’s. You can see in the first picture they had a stack of them in the background so Im sure this is a common occurrence. The individual whom sent me the plates was Travis Bird. Although he did send me the plates I must add it took some arm twisting. At first the response I received was “I cant help you as you are out of warranty”. After several email exchanges and finally informing him of my intention to contact motorhome magazine for assistance he then became very cooperative and sent the plates. They offered to reimburse having them installed but I declined and installed them myself. Click image for larger version

Be careful with those plates. If they are metal and you have tile floors they will scratch your tiles and you will be unable to repair the tiles. It happened to me.

Thanks for heads up, I will keep an eye out. I do have the white upgraded marble or fake marble tile floor. My plates were installed in early July 2015 and I’ve not had this problem yet. We use granite cleaner and polish on the floor after we return from trips when cleaning the coach. I use the stuff Lowes carries. Perhaps Ive just been lucky or maybe cleaning after each trip has eliminated sand or small pebbles from scratching floor.

Slide Separation

It was probably the way the dealer adjusted the slides with small rollers under the slide as well. Forest River readjusted them when we attended the FR rally. Forest River also put plastic slides under the right hand slide out.
