Spare Tire

New 270S does not come with a spare. How does everyone deal with not having a spare tire/wheel? Purchase independently and then store or mount somewhere, go without, roadside insurance provides, ...?

What is the wheel & tire size for a 270S?
Are all 6 the same?

Roadside assistance......Nowhere to really store a tire except between the frame rails. I would rather have a fresh tire if needed, vs one that might have been underneath the rig for a few years.

This is a big issue in my book. I've learned finding a tire for a MH is not necessarily an easy task. I want to come up with some type of under side mount. We bought the Roadmaster hitch mount, but it really placed a lot of slack and weight on on receiver when towing. I don't recommend it. In fact I'd sell mine if anyone us interested.

If I were to carry anything it would be just a tire. Leave the heavy work to the emergency road service. I hear stories of high prices and poor quality of tires available in emergencies, so maybe carry just a tire. But I mostly rely on frequent pressure checks and close visual inspection of my tires. But hitting something in the road is probably the biggest risk. Over loading the rig is another likely cause of premature failure. And then there is the 5 to 7 year safe life factor. Very few RV owners drive enough miles to wear out the treads unless they have an alignment issue.

Same Solution

I came up with the same idea before I saw your post. I will manufacture my own Hitch mount. It won't wobble, .... and certainly won't be $600!

Don't know about you folks, but breaking loose the lug nuts on my rig at 480 ft lbs of torque, and lifting a 200 lb plus tire and rim are not in my wheelhouse. We have had our rig since 2011 and no flats so far. In fact, for the past 30 plus years I don't remember a flat on any vehicle I have had or driven. Keep the pressure checked and tires replaced when required almost totally eliminates the need for a spare. My idea of spending $600.00 for a tire (lord knows what a rim would cost) and dealing with it make the idea of a spare a moot point. IMHO, of course you may do as you desire.

I have over 50,000 miles on my MH and never got a flat.
I also purchased a truck tire repair kit for a lot less money just for security.
The kit is designed to patch a hole in the main tire just in case I hit a 3 inch nail. LOL
If I ever got one I can at least plug it then I have time to find another if I really need to buy another tire.
Now if you are not watching your cold tire pressure and your tire is really low and you drive on it will destroy itself because of excessive heat that's another story.

This is what I carry just in case.

That's why they make vanilla and Chocolate ice cream (The old army should have taught you to be prepared - bring an impact wrench - yes compressor too, NOT to mention the SPARE!). BTW, Tire is apx 70# and wheel is 36# aluminum 52# Steel - Total is 106-122#. Roads no longer get the maintenance or cleaning of debris they once did when I was younger. Keep counting your chickens, it's when, not if. 'hope whoever you call can find one, deliver, and not charge you the arm and leg too. Thanks for the response that helps me solve the question.

BTW, I am installing a $24 dual receiver from HF (Dual Hitch Extender) and manufacturing my special attachment (similar to RM above) so that I do not have to actually lift anything.
