Squeaky Brakes

I have a 2015 GT 351DS with about 15K miles on it and the brakes are squeaking. Anyone else have this issue. Just curious if I need to be concerned & take it in? With only 15k miles I wouldn’t think the brakes need replacing???

4 years of camping possible, covering only 15K miles, is barely 4K miles per year.

I suspect there’s a fair bit of surface rust on your rotors, along with imbedded rust from the pads themselves.

Really low mileage can hurt things as much as too much mileage.

If you get the chance, find a quiet road to do some “poor man’s” work on your brakes. On the quiet road at 30mph or better, just lightly drag or lightly apply your brakes while maintaining 30mph to try and “sand off” any surface rust to the pads and rotors. Not forever, but a mile or two maximum and see if that clears the squeaking.

My experience is that squeaky brakes aren't usually due to brake wear or pad/rotor condition. It's usually the other parts where there is metal to metal contact. Pins, spring clips, where caliper contacts the backs of the pads, and the perches where the pads sit (and there may be other places, too). These need to be lubricated with some kind of brake lubricant.

Sometimes brakes will need servicing/lubricating prior to the pads wearing out.

Good luck.
