Steering Dampner

All,
I bought a 2017 Georgetown GT3 a year ago. I recently dropped a steering dampener. I took the RV to a ford dealer and they informed me the steering dampener is not something they provide. If I were to contact forest river and purchase a dampener they would install it. My question is how do find out which dampener was installed if it is not Ford? Ant thoughts on a good brand suitable replacement? Can Forest River tell me the brand that is on there?

Steering Stabilizer

Hello, the stabilizer is an aftermarket part. Did it fall off? There's a few of them on the market, and a picture of the stabilizer and brackets could be enough info for one of us to identify which one it is. I have this one on my Georgetown: https://www.etrailer.com/Anti-Sway-B...BK22-RSSA.html

Dampner

Yes the large U-bolts sheered off and the plate bolted to the frame was dragging on the road. The dampener has 2 cylinders on each side u-bolt to the steering arm. Thank you for your suggestion I will certainly look into it.

Can you post a pic?

Is there a giant spring exposed on the outside (Roadmaster RSSA) or is there no visible giant spring (Safe-T-Plus)?

A common installation error on the Safe-T-Plus is people over-tighten the nuts on the U-bolts and bend the bracket. BUT those U-bolts are not connected to the frame; they're connected to the steering tie rod.

So I'm confused as to what you have. It may not be either of the above.

Steering dampener

Ray,
Thank you for your help. Here are the pictures I do have. You will see the plate that fell off is bolted to the forward frame and holds the 2 shocks horizontally. The shocks (might not be the right name) are u-bolted to the steering arm.

That looks more like a kit for 4x4s rather than a motorhome specific. I have the Roadmaster unit in mine and would recommend it.

Never seen a double one for an F53. I too think someone made a 4X4 kit work.
I would ditch that system and buy a new Roadmaster or Safe T Plus kit.

While you are fixing this try to reroute the wire that’s chafing on the frame.
