I don't have a Georgetown but most rigs have a relay that will deploy the step whenever the door is opening. I would guess that yours is broke.

What do you mean "won't work"? Won't extend/retract/when etc. Your header says deploy and if the door is open when the engine is started it sounds like a low battery charge.

Scootermae.....

Do your steps ever work properly?
Is your rig in storage away from having the power cord connected? I’m thinking your might have weak house batteries.
Have they ever worked properly?

Broken Steps

I had a similar problem last year with my 2015 Georgetown. Oiled the joints, filed sharp edges etc. The steps still would bind "sometimes". Found out at the Frog Rally that the metal support on the upper right side was cracked. They promptly sent a man over, with all the welding and grinding equipment, and fixed it onsite.

Look carefully along all moving parts, as well as the welded supports for integrity. You may need some other eyes to assist. Use a small crowbar to check the welds as they will close up to near perfect. Good luck

If you step only works when you turn on the engine, then very possible that your house battery is too low. When you started the engine, the charger put the full charging voltage on your battery lead and that provide the full power to the step motor, that was why it work correctly when your engine was on.

That said, you may want to plug in your rig the shore power so it would charge your battery fully, then your step will be back working normally.

However, since you have depleted your battery too low, the chance is your battery life may not be so good to hold the charge anymore, so don't be surprised that your battery will deplete quicker than before.

Good luck and have a great day.
