Swapping recliners for sofa in GT3 31BS
Has anyone pulled the jack knife sofa (theater seats?) on the 31BS and put in a pair of recliners? I have some back problems and simply can't get comfortable in the stock seats. The foot rests don't go up enough and the back doesn't recline at all. I've looked at the LCI Euro recliners and it appears that there may be enough room, but barely. I would love to hear from anyone that has had some experience with this on this model Georgetown.

That was the second major improvement that I made to our rig. The couch was bolted to the floor and after removing the floor bolts I fitted the holes with black plugs. I did not replace with recliners but with two swivel easy chairs.

I’m sorry I’m not talented enough to include photos.....however......
Do yourself a favour and do some furniture shopping at a real furniture store. Buying furniture at an RV showroom, or CW is limiting you for absolutely no reason.
After only one time.....for 10 minutes, we decided the factory bed sofa was terrible at two jobs. Out it went to a free home.
Made detailed measurements of the location, length, width, height. More importantly, measured the doorway opening....if it don’t fit here, it don’t matter. We gave up on concerning ourselves on any kind of bed, and bought zero clearance love sears that are so comfy when reclined, you CAN fall asleep.

Note, I was able to sell my couch for $200.00. I opted to not attach the chairs to the floor. I had much lighter seats in our Trek and I bunji corded them to the wall.

Check with Brian Meeks, he has a pair or Theater Seats, brand new we were going to buy them but had a change of plans, we also have the tri-fold sofa and it is very uncomfortable.

We unbolted the jackknife sofa(it was easy) removed and then measured the space and replaced with two la-z-boys(back comes off easily so they fit thru the door). Bought from a furniture store. Much cheaper that way. We use bungee cords when moving. Great trade in our opinion.

bungee cords, fascinating. I wonder if the seat belts would work to hold them in place while moving. I must admit it is tempting to just have the Rv furniture store install them. Not a bad idea to peak at what the local furniture store has though.

Like others have said, new recliners usually have it so that their backs come off separately from the seat part to get inside the doorway.
The recliners we bought have a tubular frame around the base of them. I then used a two by two piece of wood to span across the frame with notches in the two by two. Then I secured the two by two with large diameter screws into the wood base of the slide out floor. I can still utilize the seatbelts if I wanted to by passing the belts through the back of the seats, but we haven’t transported people on the road yet......
we have a motorhome that says Georgetown, not Holiday Inn

I have this same couch. I am curious, does yours fully recline? The leg portion comes out about 40 degrees on mine. It's kind of pointless....

Jacknife Sofa/Chairs
The foot rest on my sofa/chairs also only extend about forty degrees. As someone said, this piece of furniture fails as a sofa or chair!
The bed comes in handy when my daughter loads up all her friends for a football weekend. I'm lucky enough not to be in attendance on those outings! However when my wife and I take a trip we would both like something more comfortable when we watch tv.
The best of both worlds would be to leave the jackknife sofa in the motorhome for football season, then put the chairs in for the rest of the year. I think I just need to man up and pull the sofa to see how difficult it would be to do that. From what I've heard, and can see, it doesn't look overwhelming.

We have a 2018 Georgetown 5 series. We have the same situation with football weekends and then the jackknife sofa is so uncomfortable when just the two of us. It seems strange to want to tear out a brand new sofa (especially since we thought we would love the "L" shape. following this thread to gain knowledge and ideas....
