Tires

I will be buying a new set of tires in a few months
The stock ones that come on my 2007 373
are 235/80 R22.5 Mitchlins at $440.00ea plus 18.00 mount
plus 25.00 balance plus tax about $500.00 each

I'm thinking about getting:
245/75 R22.5 Toyo Tires
They have a wider thead
I'm thinking that will make the motor home handle better
and the best part is they only cost 329.82 ea
plus mounting, balance and tax.
It looks like it'll be about 100.00 less per tire
Times 6 tires = $600.00 savings
(I like the wider stance of the Toyo Tires)

Wadda think of this?

Make sure that the sidewall plys are at least equivalent to your old Michelins.

I bought two new for the front back in July. Went to a Goodyear Commercial truck tire dealer in Flagstaff, AZ looking to buy Goodyear tires. He told me that Michelins are by far the better tire to put on my RV-they have a 6 ply sidewall.

I took his recommendation and stayed with Michelin even though they cost more. My thought is I always want the best "rubber" I can get while driving 22.5K lbs. plus down the highway.

I'm kind of curious about your present tires.
What date stamp are they?
How many miles on them and have you had any problems.

Oh also if yo get different wider tires make sure you check their distance apart in the rear dually's. Some manuf say you must have at least 4" clearance between the two. If you get wider versions the distance between the two in the rear will have detrimental effects when they heat up and or if one has a blowout may cause the other one to go.

Just a little information for you if you change the tire widths.

I have also attached a tire 101 brochure

Thanks for the heads-up on the space between the dually's
and the tire 101 brochure

The date stamp on the back tires are 3207
(why do they only put that info on one side of the tire?)
and 2711 date on the front tires.
I had a blow out last year,
inside rear tire
so i bought 2 new tires and put them on the front
one of the front tires is now the spare and the 2nd one replaced the
blown out one
I have 27091 miles on the motor home now.
so i think i should be good for another couple a years
but the next time around i want to consider wider tires.

Thanks again for all your help on this BB
