Towing and thinking.....out loud

I think we can all agree, vehicle regulations vary immensely between states, and certainly between Canada and the U.S.

I've seen (and I'm guessing others have too) pick up trucks towing 5th wheels towing yet another boat trailer behind that. Not sure, but maybe I've even seen pick up trucks towing a travel trailer while towing a boat trailer behind. I'm not sure if the limits of such are based on total length, or weight. There is a chart listing braking requirements

Towing Laws | BrakeBuddy - Braking systems for motorhomes towing a vehicle

With gas motor homes, certainly those like the Georgetowns (which almost always have a standard towing hitch limit of 5000 lbs) has anyone ever seen multiple trailer towing scenarios? ie: motorhome with towed car (toad) towing a trailer.

Too much stuff right?

BTW.........Ontario Highway Traffic Act states total maximum of no greater than 75 feet (23 meters)

I have not seen a dual hitch set up. Motorhome - trailer - toad. Tandem trailers just seem a bit too risky for me as an RV'er. I would be too concerned if the tail started wagging too much.

Vin.

I have actually seen of what you have described, motor home, jeep, trailer with motorcycles. I wasn't quick enough to get a picture.

In GA, you can tandem tow as long as you follow the rules. Example: MH pulling truck, truck pulling boat trailer. As long as any of the towed vehicles or trailers remain under the 28' length each then its fine. But if one of the towed items goes above 28' your limited to total length of 100' and cannot tandem tow. Could pull fine in GA but couldnt cross Fl line as is illegal there. Every state is different and if you cross state lines you better research each state.

Also must be in the weight restrictions of the GT. Forgot to mention that. As people have said limited to 5000lbs unless you have receiver changed out. Then limited to total gross your GT can handle.

This is just me, but there's not a chance I'll tandem tow anything. Ever.

Last wk saw MH pulling jeep pulling small trailer full of kids bikes and grill. Looked stable going down the road. In Ontario. We'll never do it, because our Ford FLEX is plenty long back there!

I see folks towing triple. Usually 5ers. My initial reaction is they're nuts. All I can do is handle my toad!!
