Towing capacity for a Georgetown 35'

I have a 2006 Georgetown 340 on an F 53 chassis. I also have a 2012 GMC Canyon 4WD Extended Cab. The question I have is can I tow my GMC with the Georgetown?

Georgetown (SEE PICTURE)
Front GVWR 7500
Rear GVWR 14500
Total GVWR 22000

GCWR 3348

Canyon (SEE PICTURE)
GVWR 5300

The Georgetown has what I believe to be a class III receiver hitch. I will be replacing this with a class IV because the class and weight sticker is faded beyond any potential to read it and at 5300 LBS, the Canyon is on the heavy side for a class III.

If I understand the math, the Canyon is too heavy to tow. But not sure If I understand the math.

Thank you in advance
Mike

Considering you have a 5,000 lb hitch receiver it looks like that small truck would be no problem a slong as you don't load it up with stuff and it exceeds the 5,000 lb limit of the receiver and tow package.
Your trucks curbweight probably around 3,500 to 3,800 lbs .
If not sure have the truck weighed with a full tank of fuel at your local truck stop.
You might as well get your rig weighed fully loaded also. Then you will know for sure.

Cat scales are about $10

The canyons GVWR is 5300lbs. That’s the most it can weigh. Not what it weighs. There should be a yellow sticker with its CCC. Take that number and subtract it from the GVWR and that will be what it weighs. You will have to add in anything else after the truck was built.

The MH will have a 5000lb rated hitch. No need to change it out for your current truck.

The MH should have a 26k on GCWR and a 22klb GVWR. That would be 4K lbs more than the GVWR. But RV manuf leave 1k lbs the in the GVWR to get the extra 1k lbs so it can have the 5k lb tow capacity. I see the MH has a 3300lb CCC. Minus propane and if you carry water. So let’s say you only use 2k lbs of that. That leaves 1300lbs that can be used for towing.

Best thing to do is weigh the truck without you in it and then weigh the MH loaded for a trip with everything and everyone in it. This will give you your Real GVWR. Then you can figure what you can tow from there.
