Trying to match paint

Hi,

We have done some repair work on our 2000 Georgetown and I would like to know how we go about trying to get some paint for touch up. I have the paint ID number but the parts places around us tell us we need to either bring the motor home to them or bring a piece of paint we need. I was hoping to be able to order direct from forest river, but do not see anywhere on their website to do that. Any help with this will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Moira Butler

not a paint expert but would think the factory/dealer would be pointless. 18 year old coach? weathering and fading im sure have taken place and your unit is probably no where close to the original factory color?

Large local body shops often have a machine to match the paint exactly.

Automotive paint supply stores have the machine that will match the paint. I brought one of my cargo doors to them and they matched it. Takes about 5 minutes.

Forest River will NOT sell you anything (I've tried)! I would go to a body shop & have them match your paint, as close as possible. Agree with the comment that your rig is 18 yrs old - even if you could purchase a small amt of paint, it would not match well, due to aging, discolorization, fading, etc... Good luck!

I needed matching paint and write to Coachmen giving the VIN. They sent me the paint info:

Mirada Black and Tan
Beige Metallic
EVO
07 Nissan

Dark Bronzemist
WA529F
03 GM

Dark Red
3N6
02 Lexus

Black metallic
WA984A
99 GM

As you can see, these were all colors used on various auto makes/models. I found a couple from Duplicolor, others from Touch Up Paint and accessories | AutomotiveTouchup
I wouldn't be surprised if Georgetown does the same.

I have the paint codes and a sample on a metal plate and three different paint stores with spectrometers were unable to match the color from my Wildwood trailer. The manufacturer confirmed this, calling it an industrial coating that was rolled on and baked. Hopefully yours is a more conventional automotive type paint and can be duplicated.

Hi, welcome to the forum.
As others have said, get it matched at your local paint supplier. I recently took a cargo door, next to my repair area, to the local NAPA paint shop and they came up with the perfect match.
