Tubular Keys for Georgetown Engine compartment

Just purchased a 2014 35' Georgetown a month ago and one of the many issues, is I went to put some washer fluid into the tank and realized the dealer never provided the Tubular Keys for the front engine cowling.

Are these just some generic keys or are they actually keyed specifically for an individual vehicle?

The dealer has failed on so many issues, in one month I have given up on them.

I think they are all the same. I would check with the dealer to make sure.

This is why it continues. Not to pick out anyone or this specific poster, but allowing FR, Dealers, ... to get away with Sin is inexcusable! They are counting on it. From the moment they have your $$,$$$, $$$,$$$... Thyet are Useless and Ignore you. Customers need to demand more and handle them like a misbehaving child.

It has not been enjoyable for me for the 1.5 years (New to TT/RV) I have had to deal with the level of Unprofessionalism throughout the industry, but I never gave up. I held them accountable and made it clear that it would be worse for them than me. That has taken a tremendous amount of effort, but in the end I have resolved/fixed all of my Issues. Do not just walk away, unless it is before you pay them.

FYI, If you use a large deposit on your credit card for purchase and/or repairs, you do have easy direct Recourse for blatant errors.

As with a car we all can buy from just about anyone but it is the after purchase experience which separates the good from the bad dealers.

I fully expect, certainly on something as complicated as an RV to have some issues but as long as the dealer is responsive I am quite happy.

If however, I get broken promises repeatedly then I look elsewhere for service.

Sales is a one time thing while service can be forever.

Round Key

On my 377XL the same key unlocks the step access hatch as well as the engine compartment. I'm not sure if you have the step hatch or the key to the step hatch but if you do they are one in the same.

Speaking of Georgetown engine hatch locks, does anyone know for a fact if those locks are side specific? On my 2014 I can't get the drivers side outside tab to line up correctly when locked. The dealer was useless, said it was a Ford problem. I don't see how that is possible as it is a FR body but what do I know? I do know the lock is "backwards".

I just looked at my hatch locks on my Georgetown with the barrel key. There is nothing left and right that I can see. It appears that there are two nuts on the thread shaft that can pinch the latch to be in whatever position you need the latch to be in. Just loosen one of the nuts and re-position the tab for whatever position you need, and re-tighten.

It's a DIY job for sure.....your dealer is in way over his head if he can't figure out something like this.

It's actually a little more complicated than this. The locking arm rotates and moves in and out as you lock/unlock it. The arm needs to be positioned in just the right place to clear the panel when rotating then pull the hatch in as it retracts.

The passenger side of mine didn't work properly when the (new) rig was delivered and it took me a number of half hearted attempts to fix before I finally spent the time to figure out exactly what the lock did. Once I understood how the lock worked, it was easy to get it set properly.
