I’ve had problems in some parks due to them being away from a town of any size and particularly if under any trees.

Have you tried using a cell phone app to get an idea of what channels are actually available where you are camping? I use TV Antenna Helper on my Android phone. It's a free app that shows what channels are in my area, what direction to point an antenna, and how strong the signals are likely to be based on distance. I expect there are other apps that would work.

You can go to this site, plug in the zip code for your campground and it should tell you what channels, and what direction.
