Vertical board in the middle of the windshield

What is the purpose of the black vertical board in the center of the two piece windshield that runs from the top of the windshield to the top of the dash other than to drive me nuts? On bumpy roads (I-40) it rattles against the windshield and seems to be only connected at the top and bottom. I have the 2007 Georgetown 378TS XL.

I have a 2008 373 ds and have the same "thing" in the center. I have my mh covered up but I seem to remember that mine might be a heavy foam rubber. It is also loose but I never had any issues with it banging around.

Not having a two piece windshield....I would guess this vertical board is part of a two piece attachment for each windshield panel and is supposed to connect to the outside piece?

Hi Ken

My 08 has the same vibrating piece in the middle. It covers the steel frame that holds the rubber windshield gaskets in place.

I think FR added it just to make us nuts.

Okay, so here’s a suggestion maybe.....

Is there enough space between this frame and the windshield to wedge a piece of the grey insulation foam you can buy at Home Depot or such, to insulate the water pipes in your home? I’m betting you guys with the split windshield designs have become used to this vertical bar in your field of vision so I’m proposing the foam insert to minimize the obstruction running top to bottom.

Would that work?
