Water Heater Switch

Checking to see if anyone has had a problem with the electric switch on the hot water tank locking or stuck in the on position. Seems like a pain having to remove the tank just to change the switch.

It happens a good bit. You don't have to remove the tank. You may have to remove the gas line in front of it, to get better access. You just stick a flat head screwdriver in at the top or bottom, depending on how you can get to it.

I just posted a pic the other day. let me look at my older posts.

Thanks wmtire! I archived this thread for future reference. As far as my switch goes, I sprayed the black switch with WD-40 and let it sit for a couple of hours. It now works again. If I have a problem again, thanks to you I'll just put a new switch in.

Thanks Again! to wmtire for pointing it out to me how to replace my water heater electric switch. I guess the WD 40 only un-froze the shot switch. With tax at a local RV dealer, $4.80.

You could also install a switch inside.

New water heater outlet box to hold a "real" 110VAC outlet (not the crappy RV type):

Thanks rockfordroo! I have seen some other posts in the past on putting in a real switch too.
