No such thing as a dumb question. Little things like that can be really stressful.

Every time we stop and are ready to take off again, I always do a walk around and have mental notes as to what to check. Perhaps a pre-flight check list would be helpful until it becomes habit. Even with that things will go wrong. I've been flagged twice to let me know I have a compartment door open when I know I checked them all. I need to adjust the a couple of doors because it seems they open on their own under certain conditions.
