Window in the door

Ok guys this is not a mechanical question but I’m sure somebody has solved this irritation and can give me some ideas.

Where we are currently parked, with the awning open, the sun comes right through the window in the door hitting my face sitting on the couch.

Has anyone installed a blind, day night shade or any window covering? If you have, please post a picture. The cover would need to be attached at the top and bottom so not to rattle in traveling.

Thanks
Shirley

Several people have replaced the window with either the Slim Shade door window or equivalent.

Another thing you could do is get some Reflectix and stick a few pieces of velcro to the frame to mount it with. That would help a little with the heat as well as the light.

Yes lim Shade is the only way to go.
Installed earlier this year after using cut up sun screens and using take.
Evenwith the shade up it has a black tint on the window for day time.
You can't see in during the day but night with lights on you can see inside so that when you pull the shade down

Wife luvs it.

We have the frameless windows and we don't care for the window in the door, especially at night. The Slim Shade does not fit the frameless window either.

I spent $6 and bought a black Redi Shade from Home Depot and cut it in half width-wise. It's pleated paper so it does not rattle and uses an adhesive strip at the top to secure it in place. Because I cut it in half I had a spare, which I just used after one year because it was getting faded from the sun. The Redi Shade has little plastic "clothespins" that can be used to keep it up if you want some light.

Entry door window

Shirley,

For less then 10 dollars, my wife and I purchased a curtain tension rod and a set of curtains from Wall Mart. We've had this in place since we bought the 270s in 2015 and have had no problems.

Had one for my other camper and it works perfect. Go to Amazon and type in, door window cover for rv. They have many choices and the one I got have Velcro which come with it. It is a silver foil like and it dose block out the direct sun lite. It is too soft to make any rattle noise.

Shade For Georgetown Door

Well I have to check out that Slim Shade. It sounds like the way to go.
I was at Lake Erie and bought the Black Film in a pinch that just sticks to the window. Been on a year works ok but would rather have the shade and daylight. Did they change the window size? I see someone said it did not fit but I will check it out.
Thanks

Not sure what camper you have, but mine installed in minutes without any modification to the existing hole. If you have the standard window size you should have no problems. Some folks have installed it upside down to make the shade pull up from the bottom so you can still see who's at the door..

I installed our slim shade upside down. This way you can leave the gap at the top and still be able to see out the window without bending over.

I am contemplating the slim shade. I have two doors with the windows. I decided to use reflected for the time being and have been very pleased with the results. The reflective bubble insulation does a great job at reducing heat in the trailer and light. Big, big difference in the bedroom to stabilize temperature and morning light from the sun!!!

After reading the comments about installing the window upside dow I’ve decided to remove mine and turn it over. Since removing the window will result in destroying the seal can anyone tell me the type of seal material to use?

That was quick. Thank you for that info.

I have a lot of 3M exterior double sided mounting tape laying around here. It appears to be similar, so would that be the same stuff?

I'd stick with butyl tape. You want something to seal the water out, not sure 3M would do that.

One thing to consider before installing it upside down is if you have a screen door you still have to open the doors to get to the shade.

Turns out the tape is not needed. When I removed the inner ring I found that it can be reinstalled either side up. Since the butyl seal was never broken then no tape needed.

New placement:
