Winterizing washer and dryer

Winterizing Washer & dryer hookup?
There are red & blue lines with valves, I know what those are. There are two blue water lines with like a breather on the top and are the same height as the water lines with valves on. What are those.

Ok I know it is a vacuum breaker. I Googed it. But why is it next to my washer lines and if it lets loose, it will flood my closet

Mine doesn't have that behind the washer/dryer, just the HOT/COLD line and 1.5" drain pipe.

Vacuum break. Lets air in when draining the lines as the washer is not like a faucet where you can easily open the hot/cold handles to let air in. It's a one-way air valve (air in when draining, but no water out when pressurized).

The lines are the hot and cold water lines for the washer. The black top is the check valve for the the black water tank flush. Note: some times this valve is installed backwards and the black water tank will not flush or you cannot put water through the valve to clean out the black water tank. In fact mine was installed backwards and had to reverse it to make the tank flush work. So if you have problems flushing your black water tank, you will need to reverse the valve. good luck

X2 on black tank flush...make sure you pump some antifreeze through those lines and into the black tank.

I used an air compressor and blew air into the back flush connection.
I'm not sure how I would get antifreeze in those lines. The water pump is not connected to the back flush area. The water pump is what injects antifreeze into the system.
Is air good enough for back flush lines?

That is the standard installation for a GT378 black tank cleanout check valve/vacuum breaker. Blowing the lines out should be sufficient as both lines are open at their terminations (input connection/black tank nozzle) but if you are concerned just remove the valve and shake it clear of any residual water and reinstall.

Here is the one in my GT378. It looks different but the internals are the same. This one does expose the inner workings so you can see what's happening.

I honestly believe doing NOTHING to the black tank flush lines is sufficient.

The check/anti-siphon is always the highest point (in that line) and since it allows air admittance, the lines simply drain back into the tank and out the black tank flush inlet emptying them.

As mentioned though... if you have any concern, blow out that line or remove the valve or ingest antifreeze in that line.

Probably under the bathroom sink or behind the shower.

Those are the two most mentioned locations in R/Vs.

Why would you not pour some anti freeze in the washer and then pump it out into the sewer line????????????
