Banff-Jasper-Glacier NP

We are planning our first western trip for this coming June and July. Traveling through Banff, Jasper, and on to west side of Glacier NP in Montana between June 15 and July 6 time frame. We are traveling in a 31 ft. Coachmen Pursuit towing a Ford Focus. Will we have any problems driving this from Banff to Jasper along the Ice Fields Parkway AND route 93 down to West Glacier MT.?
Also, any suggestions for an overnight campground between Banff and West Glacier? Thanks

Moyie Lake is a nice spot and is about 20 minutes west of Cranbrook.

The Icefields Parkway (Banff to Jasper) is a popular route in the Rocky Mountains. It has a pretty good grade with a passing lane most of the way up.

We've driven the 93 a few times south of Banff and can't think of any major issues, but it is a 2 lane highway.

If the Road to the Sun is open, it's definitely worth checking out in your Focus.

If you want to drive the Road to the Sun, I wouldn't go before July 1.

We tried to drive Going to the Sun Road on June 30 a couple of years ago. That year, it did not open until July 15.

Double check the status of the border crossing on 93 before you go, and be prepared for long wait times. (We were thinking of going up that way in Sept. of last year and there was a closure.) And you probably already know, but if you do have to cross the border on the east side for some reason, you will have to drive around the southern edge of the park to get to West Glacier, as there are no large RVs allowed across the Going to the Sun Road. And as others have mentioned, the GTTSR may or may not be fully open at the beginning of July.

Have a wonderful trip! Hope to get to Jasper and Banff ourselves someday.
