campsite in southwestern ontario

looking for a campsite in southwestern Ontario, either on the lake or near one with good fishing. I do not have a boat, fishing would be from shore

How far south? I've done Camper's Cove, Holiday Harbour, Sturgeon Woods, Wheatley Provincial Park. All are on the water. Don't fish so I can't speak to how good/bad they are.

You've also got Rochester Place, Leisure Lake (not on the lake but stocked ponds) also nearby. Haven't been to those ones yet.

Fishing and Camping... Lake Erie at Rondeau PP . Lake Huron at Pinery, fishing is adjacent river at parks boundary or right in the park on a slow moving water course they rent canoes. Lake Huron at Goderich Point Farms PP in the river flats lots of fish, easy shore access above the lake. Falls Reserve Conservation Area on the Maitland River easy walking access to fishing, spring best here as river flows get low later in the summer. Tiverton Inverhuron PP there is pier fishing at Kincardine and Port Elgin. At the point in Inverhuron there is a mile hike to the point where fishing is good at the outflow of Bruce Generating station.

PP= Provincial Park

You also require a fishing licence in Ontario

Rockwood CG just outside of Guelph, a spring fed lake and they shot the movie Cheaper by the Dozen with Steve Martin there, and Fishermans Cove, a little north but great fishing.

We stay at Windmill Point park near Fort Erie. Bike path outside the gate attracted us originally. Nice folks that own/run it. Lots of activities.

There is a whole series of CG's in the Grange River Conservation Area, where Rockwood is one of them. Your pass gets you into the whole series. I recall there was one that the lake was in fact a dam and big enough for boating and I recall the fishing was great .

Grand River Conservation area. Conestoga lake and Lake Belwood parks are large dams an deep enough for fishing. Wildwood Conversation area by St Marys is also good fishing.

Last time we were there, fishing did not pan out but I do recall an awesome Italian restraunt on I believe it was Hwy 6 between Guelph and KW. Drowned my sorrows in a fine Chianti and mounds of pasta. Great area for buying meats and sausages if the fishing goes south....just saying.
