Canada

Thinking about traveling this fall. We are interested in the Northeast U.S. and Canada. Any recent experience in either would be appreciated.

I live along the US- Canada border. Have many relatives over there. The border is currently closed and Canada is about to extend it for a year. Best plan would be the NE US. Come up to the Thousand Islands region where I live. It’s beautiful

Lots of great places in the northeastern US to visit.
A note of caution.... plan ahead. You're going to run into a couple of different concerns. You're going to find that many campgrounds shut down in the middle of September. As reverse_snowbirds we've been forced to head south as campgrounds closed behind us.
However, many people go to the northeast to see the 'fall colors' and some of the campgrounds in those areas are booked in advance. So plan ahead and have fun!

It was just announced that the Canada/US border will remain closed to non essential travel until September 21/2020.

It looks like the border will likely be closed for the foreseeable future. The closure is definitely impacting border towns and thousands of snowbirds.

Hopefully you will be able to enjoy Canada when things get back to normal.

It’s been our experience this summer that campgrounds in Vermont are turning away those coming from travel restricted states. Seems to be a trend up here in New England. Unlikely that state campgrounds will be open or available. Check in advance with private campgrounds and keep on top of the travel restrictions / quarantine requirements.

Strange days and they require an additional level of planning.

You have a great idea, just not a great year to do it in... start planning soon for next year's fall trip...

now if you were to be traveling south or west...

**UPDATE**

US Canada Border closed till November 30th. Bad news for CDN snowbirds , if they could even get insurance. Good news with keeping COVID numbers lower.
