Still closed until June 21.
Neither side seems to be in a big hurry to reopen.
Hopefully the curve continues to flatten and the border can safely reopen. The tourism industry is taking a big hit on both sides.

If numbers start to climb anywhere.....we could all be back to conditions or limits of one or two months ago.
We’re only planning and hoping for camping travels in our own Province and Country this year.....and even those could change.

There's some that have seemed to have found a "loop hole" with saying they are heading to Alaska, and then are venturing well off that path, if it ever was a path. Some have been caught and fined.
https://calgary.ctvnews.ca/rcmp-issu...week-1.4993704
Let's hope that more are being more cautious than some have been.

You always have the "10%" that don't believe the rules pertain to them.

Americans get caught because they drive their own vehicles with their home state plates, I highly doubt the many Asian tourists visiting Banff and Jasper driving rental cars with AB plates are all Canadian residents.

Has Canada invoked a Asian Travel Ban?

Yes! Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, Montreal are the only airports allowing international (incl. US) flights and only for 'essential' travels, but when you google (please do it) the arrivals screen for Vancouver, Montreal and especially Toronto you'll see that the government doesn't enforce it's own regulations and still allows 1000's of people per day from virus hot spots to enter the country. No wonder they can't get the situation under control in Toronto and Montreal.

A little different story at the Alaska/YT border. US CBP will worn you that only official/bonafide travel is allowed, and they'll allow you to pass. However, several miles into Canada you will be stopped at Beaver Creek and met by the RMCP. No good reason?, and you will be sent back up the road. Same for US CBP in the other direction. Even the US military has put a moratorium on issuing official orders to use the Alaska Hwy for travel to/from AK.

I'll PM you a link to a news article, I'm afraid if I post it here publicly it might cause the site team to shut down this thread.

Just in:
Trudeau: US-Canada border to remain closed to non essential traffic until coronavirus is under control.
Current travel ban was to expire on October 21, 2020, but has now been extended.

I was at the Whirlpool Bridge, US/Canada border in Niagara Falls NY, and was talking to Customs and Border Patrol. They said that they used to share offices back and forth with the Canadians but they can't even do that any more but they doo have meetings together. They said that if the borders don't open up by spring 2021 they will be closed all summer... Boo!!!
