Canadian Route to Goshen

As we prepare to leave Alaska, we intend to travel through Canada to Elkhart, IN. Our travels will take us from Valdez. AK to Calgary and after that, we need some directions on the best way to get over to Goshen, IN. Would someone with experience give us some pointers on which way we should travel.

I would suggest straight down from Calgary into US to save on fuel costs as it is a lot more expensive in Canada. Come down into Montana and get onto 94 East and follow it all the way to Goshen, that would be the simplest but perhaps not the most senic.

I would say from Calgary east (on the #1) all the way to Sudbury, Ontario and then south to Goshen. This is a lot farther than the US route, however the scenery along the North shore of Lake Superior is awesome! A little boring from Calgary to Winnipeg. Safe travels.

When you hit Calgary take the Stoney Trail bypass. It will easily shave off 15 minutes and a lot of frustration with traffic on highway #2(Deerfoot). You will want Stoney eastbound. It loops around the city, then get off at the highway #2 exit when you reach the southern outskirts of Calgary.

When we went to Goshen in 2012 we went down to I94 Via 52 through Minot to Jamestown and went across Minnesota then to Madison then down 90 and switched to 39 till we hit I80 then went east on I80. There rest is pretty self explanatory when you look at Google maps. I am another who recommends getting stateside as soon as you can with the prices we pay for gas up here.

I'd agree with the straight south plan after Calgary, buying fuel in Canada is the equivalent to old time extortion, I live here but I don't travel much other than to the border and that's only fifty miles.

Go straight south, you can easily safe a few hundred dollars. Even here the price of regular jumped up to $5 per gallon US, further east is even higher.
