I remember being in Canada when the police did not even carry guns...

I will be attempting the cross on Saturday into Niagara Falls... We will see. I already searched the truck for stray rounds, took out my work stuff and am leaving the cat at home because I heard they have an issue with pet food sometimes and cannot have the cat need to start a new diet of poutine in Canada.

In my previous life before finally retiring I would regularly go through customs all over the world (14 countries in 2011, maybe more in other years). It will surprise you that the absolute easiest place is China, closely followed by Russia. Never had any problems anywhere...but the absolute worst customs to deal with is the USA and Canada. I will say both country's customs locations not directly on the border are much easier to deal with.

I haven't been to Canada in recent years but found getting into Canada was generally easier than getting back into the US. As far as food goes there are restrictions about what can be brought in and how it must be packaged. Here is a link to the Canada Food Inspection Agency web page that list the rules.

Had no issues in either direction last month when we crossed at Port Huron / Sarnia. 4 or 5 questions after checking our passports and we were on our way.

As for those who feel their rights are being impeded because they are not allowed to bring their handguns or other restricted weapons in to Canada, look at it from another perspective. Here in Canada we are fortunate enough to live in a society in which we feel that we can move around without the need to carry a firearms to defend ourselves. The violent crime rate here is significantly lower than in the US. As a Canadian citizen I certainly feel more vulnerable being in the US where it is known that I am not permitted to carry a firearm. That certainly paints a target on my back for those looking to commit a crime where they know for sure that I do not have the means to protect myself, my family or my property.
For those who are bringing their long guns legally in to Canada for hunting or sporting purposes, there are no problems just so long as the correct documentation is done in advance and correctly declared - with the appropriate admin fees of course. Again, similar restrictions apply to Canadians entering the US for legitimate purposes.
I agree with this post 100%!

OP said he's "been to Canada lots of times but never with a rv. Just looking for any tips on doing so." Doesn't sound like he's looking for any advice on what he can or can't bring into Canada. That topic has been discussed on this forum ad naseum.

He says it's shorter to travel through Canada to get to Michigan, but we know he really just wants a feed of Timbits, poutine and real beer!

Easy. You use one of these milk pitchers. Put the bag in the pitcher, smack it on the bottom a few times to get the air out and then cut off the corner of the bag with scissors.

Did you go in grocery store or a restaurant retail place? Now you just need to go get yourself one of those stainless steel milk coolers with the big stainless handle to raise to have the milk poor.

Or poor mans way is use a clip and pour it like your holding bag pipes.
