Finlayson Point PP - Temagami

We spent the last week of July at Finlayson Point in Temagami, ON. We were on site 53 - a great site. The park is on Hwy. 11, 1 kilometre south of the town of Temagami. It is about 1 hour north of North Bay the highway is a two lane, but, traffic moves well and a very scenic drive.

The park is very hilly, no real bike paths to speak of. It's a fairly quiet park in terms of campers, however, you do hear traffic noise from Hwy. 11 and float plane activity (which is kind of cool).

The swimming is great - water is crystal clear/clean. there are two small beaches, docks for boat mooring. Temagami Lake is huge, we only explored a portion of it with he canoe. There are bass, pickerel and pike in the lake.

There are hiking trails, but, you have to go into town to hike. There is a viewing deck that is 400' above the town and you get a great panoramic view of the area. There is a fire tower that you can climb that is an additional 100' above the surrounding ground.

The town has a well stocked grocery store, LCBO, Home Hardware, chip trucks, Petro Canada (with diesel).

The staff were very nice and courteous and always busy cleaning and working. Overall a great a park.
