first outing EVER in our new Travel Trailer

looking for a Very nice camping site within 3 hour drive from Kingston Ontario.
This will be our very first time out in our new TT. We've never done this before, used to camp in a tent a long time ago and that's it. So we are looking for luxurious, quiet campground with touristy or scenic touring nearby.
Any idea?

I second this approach. There are going to be things that you need and didn't account for. It's easy to take care of these things when you are next to your house!

The KOA in Mallorytown is only 1 hr. away. We are close to the 1000 Island boat tours. KOA is having a special this month. You pay for Friday Sept 30 and a $10 donation to the Children cancer camp you camp Sat. for free. Also the Mallorytown KOA starts their hallowee'n weekends Sept. 17. The owners have created a great haunted trail. Have a great time in your new TT.

Ok so my better half and I have a date in our trailer on the front yard tomorrow night. We'll be spending part of the day and use it, cook, set it up etc. We'll then go to either the KOA thousand island or Mallorytown, not too far from home and practice and spend a week end.

Sounds like a good plan to me. There should be less pressure in your front yard and one advantage is that you can always take a time-out and come back to it refreshed if need be.

Victoria Park in Smith Falls is right in the village and by the Rideau Canal. It is a municipal campground but is quiet. That is where we spend our first trip as Canadian Tire, Walmart and Leisure Days RV are close by if you require anything. The sites are small and no fires allowed. Have fun

We've been to the kingston, 1000 island ivy lea and Cardinal KOA's. All are very nice and well kept. 1000 island is the priciest and most commercialized as far as site sizes etc. It is also the best outfitted as far as pools and hot tubs etc. I really enjoy it there.

My wife prefers the Cardinal KOA, a little more woodsy, the camp sites are in the tall pines.

Kingston will give you a great place to start from if you want to see the sites in the city...

I'm in Kingston as well boubou and have camped many of the local parks. What's your preference? pools and hot tubs or beaches and trails? How about your privacy preference do you prefer the privacy of remote camping or smaller public sites where you can socialize? How does cost figure into your plans?

FYI: We're camping at the end of the month at Murphy's Point Provincial Park.

I will tell you a super campground right on the st. Laurence river.it is super quiet very big sites and you will not want to go elsewhere after. Come to the bird sanctuary campground at nairne ilsland. You will find a map of the campground at the st laurence park commission. It is close to morrisburg ontario

Hi, we like woods, hiking, biking, we have 2 dogs, a sheltie and a chihuahua. We like more space and privacy. I realize Ivy league KOA won't meet any of these criterias but this will be our very first time out and we wanted somewhere we wouldnt have to worry.
As far as cost goes, I don't mind paying premium if the site is worth it.

Hi, I've tried finding the site online but there is an error message on that campround. Perhaps you have a working link for it?

We haven't gone yet, too busy with family visiting and work. We are booked at the KOA at Ivy league Thousand Island for this upcoming weekend. Our first two nights. We've done tent camping before with no problems but this is a whole new experience for us. We now know how to hithc the tt and tv, with the reese dual cam wd, we drove it twice from the dealer to home and back for wd install. Drove a lot better than I expected it to. We drove the speed limit on highway 38 (80km/hr) and traffic, passed by tractor trailors and no problem with sway so far. Parked the tv in our s shaped parking lot, leveled it. So you can see, it's all new to us. It will be our first time everything. Hooking up, not sute, how do i know the hot water tank is full of water before turning the hydro switch on? And do i drain the hot water tank before we drive back home?
Do i have to worry about the gas to it if the hydro is on?

I'll take picture and show them off for sure

Boubou: go to ( nairne island camping) and you will be able to print a map of the camping. You will not regret this place it is the best of the word and while you are there go with your familly to Upper Canada Village for a full day in the past. It is a must to go there at least once in your life and this message is also for our friends from the U.S.A. as well. I am including a few pictures of Nairne ilsland camping. Good camping and for your info this camground close around october 23 rd.

Looks like we'll have to wait until next spring to go, the Thanksgiving weekend is booked up there. All the serviced sites are reserved. I see that they don't allow dogs on the beach or trails but are dogs allowed in the camping area?

Yes they are allowed. Not allowing dogs at the beach make good cense and in the trails because there are a lots of deers roaming near the trails.
