Halfway Lake Provincial Park Review

We had booked Grundy Lake PP for July 28th for a week and on Thursday we received an email from the park indicating it was being evacuated and closed due to the smoke form the wildfires.

We had to find a new spot in the middle of vacation season 2 days before we planned to leave.

The only only park I was able to find with availability was Halfway Lake, I hour north of Sudbury on hwy. 144. It was a non-hydro site which worked out fine.

We've never been to this park and it was a great park. Beach was sandy very shallow - great for young kids. Was able to take the dog to an area outside of the swimming area and she swam - no problem. Newly constructed double dump station. All the sites are very private and a good size. If you've never been or are considering it - I give it a thumbs up.
