Headed to Banff
We're heading to Banff on the 17th from Clovis CA. Going up HWY 99 then I80 to HWY 93 to Burley for the required Covid test 72 hours prior to entering Canada, then on to the Sweetgrass/Coutts border crossing. Calgary for a day and on to Banff for 6 nights at Tunnel Mountain Trailer Court campground.
Planning on getting up to Jasper in the toad and just general sightseeing. We've been looking at doing this trip for over a year now, so we're pretty excited.
A nice add to the trip is we are meeting a couple that we met at a Flying J in Arizona earlier this spring while we were doing the "round the country" trip. We ended up at the same rest stop in New Mexico for the night later that day. We were on our way to Florida, they were going to Albuquerque. After dinner and a couple cups of coffee, we all decided to go to Carlsbad Caverns together for a couple days. We had a great time at Carlsbad and vowed to "hook up" again in the future. They headed to Albuquerque, we continued on our way to New Orleans, Florida, ultimately up to Bar Harbor before heading back to CA.
Over the summer we stayed in touch neither doing much traveling. Us with grandkids birthdays and what not, them with their daughters wedding. And all of us dealing with the fires out west. But now!! We are heading to Banff!. We'll meet up in Winnemucca and caravan up to Banff from there.
With a little luck we will come up with a "winter" trip!

Good luck on your trip! It sounds like a great route!
The leaves are slowly changing here and it's starting to get cooler overnight!

You got it.
We were actually contemplating running back East if things got goofy with Canada again. Pennsylvania was on the list. We were there this spring for the first time. Stayed in the Gettysburg area for 4-5 days, ran up to Hershey and drove around, obviously did Gettysburg. Beautiful state.
Coming from drought ridden CA seeing all of the greenery was a bit of a shock. So what's the deal? The wife and I couldn't get over how everything was GREEN AND MOWED. Is that like the state pastime? LOL!

There is potential for a taste of your "winter trip" while in Banff! Could definitely see a touch of snow there in Sept...but it will likely melt right away once the sun shines. Things should have slowed down a bit there with return to school, you should be in for a great time. Lots to see and do there. Be sure to take in the Hot Springs there, they're real nice. Drive safe and enjoy Canada! Wish the border would open up the other way, so we Canadians could enter the US.

We wish it would open the other way as well.
The wife and I have both been fully vaccinated since March. The trip we took In April was predicated on vaccinations to get into a number of the states we wanted to visit. The 72 hour Covid negative test prior to entering Canada is nothing new. Just glad for the opportunity to visit our northern neighbors!

If your golfers and depending on how you go to Jasper if you go. Let me know. If your traveling from Jasper towards Edmonton or in that area. I have a place at a fantastic Golf RV resort called Trestle Creek Golf and RV resort. Great course and a great place to camp for a day or 2. About 3 hours east of Jasper

Thanks for the tip. Not sure how we are heading back. There is talk of running down to AZ or maybe places further east if the weather holds. We're not golfers, but are defiantly interested in seeing Jasper.

Well we're up in Banff for the next 6 nights. Staying in the Tunnel Mountain Trailer Court, which I have to say is pretty nicely set up.
We had one day of rain out of the 4 days to get here, but other than that is been uneventful.
Crossing into Canada was no issue as long as you do the " ArriveCan" app prior.
Looking forward to the next 6 days to explore!

So we spent 6 nights in Banff and I'm here to tell you, there is not a more beautiful spot on the continent. Absolutely gorgeous everywhere you turn. Weather was perfect the whole time we were there. Even had a chance to make it up the Icefield Parkway to Jasper.
If you have the chance, take it. Absolutely fantastic place!

Beautiful pictures, thanks for posting them. Glad your trip went as planned and hope your next one will be as good! 2018 went as far north as Peace River, AB then jumped over to Dawson Creek in BC and headed back down to Washington State - a months worth of trip and I'd go back in a heartbeat. Safe Travels!

Beautiful pictures. We did that trip (Banff 6 nights and Jasper 4 nights) 3 years ago, when we still had our Forest River 2861DS, pulling our VW GTI on a tow dolly. Will be heading there next summer (2022), using our 2021 THOR ACE 33.1, pulling either Mini Cooper on a dolly or a Jeep Willys. We drove from Las Vegas, NV.
Very nice place to visit. Loved the lakes.
How was the border crossing? What are the new procedures (if any)? Did you by any chance travel with dogs? If so, what are the requirements for dogs?
