Let's Try Again - Camping RVing Eastern and Central Ontario

Camping – RVing Eastern and Central Ontario:

Sharbot Lake, Bon Echo, Murphy’s Point, Driftwood, Algonquin and Killbear Provincial Parks

Apologies for the double thread everyone - Youtube didnt want us to use the music we'd selected, so we've re-editted with a some different music. Let's try again....

2019 found Sindee, Ranger and I visiting exploring Eastern and Central Ontario in our17 Ram Copper Head and Flagstaff 26RBWS.

Ontario is a huge province and we are blessed with a wonderful provincial park system. Few of us have had the opportunity to visit them all, but 2019 found us trying to check off a few more, while revisiting other parks we hadn’t been to decades – some only recalled from distant childhood memories.

Spring of 2019 was exceptionally wet and cold in Ontario – but when we headed out in the last week fro our three-week vacation, it was as is someone through the switch on summer – the weather warned and the sun shone as we headed east.

Driftwood was one of the new parks we visited. Located North of Deep River on the Ottawa River with a view of Quebec’s Laurentain Mountains, the park’s remoteness (and lack of hydro service) brought a welcome solitude to the fantastic sunsets found here. Other highlights of the trip included kayaking Bon Echo’s Mazinaw Rock and Algonquin’s attractions, trails and wildlife.

We've posted a video of the trip here:

The Other provincial parks visited were: Sharbot Lake, Murphy’s Point and (one of our favorites) Killbear.

If visiting this part of Ontario is of interest, hopefully the video will provide some insights into what you can expect.

Thanks for sharing the video True North, I enjoyed watching it. This was our first summer with an RV and stayed fairly close to home to learn how everything works. A few parks that we really like are Pukaskwa National Park, Sleeping Giant Provincial Park and Quetico Provincial Park. Great hiking and water activities at all of them. This is all in Northwestern Ontario, near and around Thunder Bay, so a bit of a drive for you guys.

Thanks RStock, You are blessed with some amazing camping in that part of the Northern Ontario. We visited there, Sleeping Giant, Lake Superior, and Pancake Bay Provincial Parks, three years ago. It was fantastic! We have returned to Lake Superior (Agawa Bay) two more times - it has become our favourite!

Southern Ontario has some really nice parks but the rugged, even mountainous, beauty of the northern parts of the province is incredible. When we travelled to that region it was our first trip with an RV (sob) and we made our first camping video. I'll post it here in case anyone is interested in those parks:

Thanks for posting your video!

Bon Echo has long been one of our favorite PPs but alas our new fifth wheel is too long for all but maybe half a dozen of their sites.

The pro is that we've begun exploring a lot of PPs in other areas of the province that we never considered before.
